Planning
Your Rehearsals - Jim Herchak
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m Pavilion Theatre
Muddled or nonexistent planning quickly turns rehearsals into a mad, last minute scramble
which leaves many parts of the play lacking and scares away actors from the next audition.
Unplanned rehearsals are frustrating, inefficient, unproductive and disrespectful of the
actors' time. Planned rehearsals, on the other hand, lets actors get into their groove.
Learn how to break down a script into workable units, and learn not only why scheduling
results in a cleaner, tighter production, but also how it frees up time to discover the
gems within every script and make it the best it can be. The class will also include some
tips on planning your auditions.
Bio: Jim is a playwright, as well as a director and actor, and has been
president of the Kamloops Players from 2001 to 2004. His latest credits include directing
his 1997 play The Colour of Blood for the 2003 OK Zone Festival, and Murder Clause and
Announcing Murder: two murder mystery shows for private conventions, also penned by Jim.
