Rachel Ditor & Robert Gardiner - Mainstage Adjudicators

Rachel Ditor is a
director, actor, playwright, dramaturge and teacher. She has an MFA in Directing from UBC,
where she is an Adjunct Professor. Rachel came to Vancouver from Montreal, where she was
the artistic director of The Mount Royal Shakespeare Company and a frequent director at
Playwrights Workshop Montreal. Rachel has worked as a dramaturge on new play development
with several of Vancouver's professional theatre companies, including The Arts Club,
Rumble Productions, Touchstone Theatre, Ruby Slippers, Electric Company and Playwrights
Theatre Centre. Recent directing credits include, for Gateway Theatre in Richmond, Norm
Foster's Here on the Flight Path and Elliott Hayes' Homeward Bound, for the Arts Club,
Enchanted April by Matthew Barber and for UBC Theatre Department, the collectively written
Transit Lounge. For Theatre BC, Rachel taught playwriting at Backstage in both 2000 and
2001.

Robert Gardiner, who is Head of the Department of
Theatre, Film and Creative Writing at UBC, has designed over 150 productions during his
20+ year design career. He has designed sets and/or lighting for companies in Chicago,
Montreal, Kamloops, Sacramento, San Francisco, Seattle, Sudbury, Tokyo, Victoria and
Vancouver, amongst others. In Vancouver, he has received several Jessie Richardson Awards.
Robert has taught scenery and lighting design at UBC since 1986. He has also worked as a
director, technical director, stage carpenter, scenic artist, and actor. Robert has a
Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from California State University, Sacramento and an MFA in
Theatre Design from the University of Washington. For Theatre BC, Robert has taught design
workshops at Backstage.

Garry
Davey is the former Artistic Director for TheatreOne in Nanaimo and for the William
Davis Centre for Actor's Study in Vancouver where he taught for 14 years. Since graduating
from the Vancouver Playhouse Acting School, Garry has continued to develop his craft with
master teachers from New York, LA, Paris, London and Canada. He has appeared on stage
across the country, (most recently for The Chemainus Theatre Festival, TheatreOne, and
Sunshine Theatre) as well as in many television productions and feature films. Recent
directing credits include The Drawer Boy and Shirley Valentine for TheatreOne, as well as
Marion Bridge by Daniel McIvor and Edward Albee's Three Tall Women for Western Edge
Theatre in Nanaimo. Garry has served as adjudicator for various zone festivals, as well as
Mainstage 2005. Previously at Mainstage, Garry has worked as a Workshop Play instructor,
Scene Development instructor, and course instructor for both Mainstage and Backstage. This
year he also adjudicator for the North Island High School Drama Festival and the Kootenay
Zone Festival.

Sharon Heath
(Youth
Workshop Play)- Sharon Heath has been working professionally in theatre since graduating
from the National Theatre School in 1987. It was in theatre school that she first began
writing comedy. Early writing credits include too blonde and her one-woman show based on
Janis Joplin, Piece of My Heart. In 1992 she founded Full Figure Theatre Company with
Tammy Bentz and Jacqueline Dandeneau to write and produce more shows about women. Together
they created and extensively toured the "f" word, way too blonde and Wumpa.
Sharon also writes and performs stand-up comedy, notably with Gut Wrench. In 1999, she
began writing The Big Map: A History of Early British Columbia, with Faith Moosang, Chris
McGregor, Steven Hill and Lois Anderson. This show is slated for a high school tour in the
Spring of 2007. In 2000, Sharon accepted a 6-month Interim Artistic Producer position for
Sunshine Theatre in Kelowna. Directing credits include Ethan Claymore and The Women (Deux
Mille Productions). 2001 saw Sharon as Head Writer and Director of A Steele of a Show for
Rosebud Theatre, performed at Ft. Steele Heritage Park. Sharon is presently writing a new
clown piece called, The Kitchen Sink Musical with Sandra Head composing. She also works
steadily in film and TV, plus she teaches drama to all ages.
