Registration Fast Facts:

This year we’re excited to report that we’ve moved the New Play Festival, normally held in April in Kamloops, to include it with the Mainstage Festival July 2nd-10th (replacing the Workshop Play series). A popular component of Theatre BC’s Canadian Playwriting Competition, the New Play Festival includes re-working sessions and public readings of the competition’s winning and finalist plays with the playwrights and selected dramaturges. Registrants of the Mainstage Festival can actively participate by applying as actor/readers for the re-working sessions and public readings, or simply audit the whole fascinating process. Your Mainstage pass will still cover you for auditing all the New Play Festival sessions & readings, much as it did for the Workshop Plays.
If you wish to enroll as actor/reader for any of the sessions, you are invited to contact the Theatre BC office with your expected dates of involvement at the festival. As a bonus, all actors/readers do NOT have to include the days they are involved in New Play Festival Workshops in their minimum 3-Day registration. So you can take part in the development of these award-winning new plays & have some fun tackling a character for the public readings, or just come out to find some exciting new Canadian scripts for your club’s next season!
