by Tom Stoppard
Presented by
Pender Solstice Theatre Society (SIZ)
Performance Sponsored by Quadra Printers Ltd.
Director's Notes:
Czechoslovakian-born Tom Stoppard moved to England as a child and
worked as a journalist, a theatre critic and playwright. He is best known for his play,
"Rosencrantz and Guilderstern Are Dead", and, more recently, for his screen play
collaboration for the highly praised and Academy Award-winning movie, "Shakespeare In
Love".
Some people, at first sight, have found this play, or rather
these plays, (for here we have a play within a play), somewhat confusing. In fact, even at
second, third and fourth sight some are still confused. The fact that two of the audience
are in the play and also in the play within the play adds to the confusion, so to make it
less confusing, you should probably know that very few people in the play, and in the play
within the play, are who they appear to be. But then, in a true 'Who-dun-it', who is? The
Real Inspector Hound is a 'Who-dun-it' to end all 'Who-dun-its' and when you've discovered
who-dun-it, please let me know.
----WARNING - As in all good Who-dun-its, gunshots will be heard----
