There will be a REGISTRATION DESK
in the lobby of the Pavilion Theatre (1025 Lorne St, Kamloops). Volunteers will be
stationed at the Registration Desk throughout the weekend. Participants can pick up their
Registration Packages at the Registration Desk upon arrival.
Auditing:
There is only one low
Festival Pass Fee or "Hospitality Fee", which covers access
to all sessions as an auditor, reader or actor. Registered participants may sit in and
observe any of the 'Re-working Sessions and/or 'Finalist Round Table Sessions' as well as
attend the Playwrights' Reception, opening day Workshop and the Staged Public Readings.
Some copy scripts will be available at the Registration Desk. Stay with one particular
Re-working Session from start to finish or move around to any combination of the various
Sessions. We only ask that 'Auditors' show courtesy to the Dramaturges, Playwrights and
Actors/Readers when entering or leaving Sessions. Please do not interrupt the work in
progress. It is best to change Sessions during breaks..
Re-working
Sessions:
These intense workshop sessions, running Friday
evening through Sunday afternoon, will focus on taking the three category-winning scripts
"from the page to the stage". Playwrights will be given direction on taking
their scripts to the next level to develop and prepare each work for production. The
Dramaturges and Playwrights will work through their respective scripts, using registrant
actors to work scenes. This year's sessions include: TBA
Finalist Round Table Sessions:
These four-hour sessions with registrant Readers
and a professional dramaturge, provide the Finalist Playwrights with an analytical process
and valuable feedback for continued development of their scripts. This year, the Finalist
scripts will also receive a Public Reading; one script during the Playwrights
Reception and the remaining scripts on Sunday morning. TBA

Playwrights'
Reception:
The New Play Festival will
host an informal Reception in the Pavilion Theatre from approximately 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm
on Saturday, April 19th, open to Playwrights, Dramaturges, Instructors, Registrants and
invited guests. The Reception will include the presentation of the Cash Awards to the
three category-winning playwrights, and Public Reading of one Finalist Play. This
will also be an opportunity for all participants to mingle, unwind, get to know each other
and discuss the events of the weekend.
Staged Public Readings:
The culmination of the weekend
Festival will be the 'Staged Public Readings'. These Readings will take place Sunday,
April 20th at the Pavilion Theatre, with Finalists scripts being read on Sunday morning
from 10:00am - 12:00pm, and the three category-winning scripts from 1:30 - 4:30pm. Tickets
are available to the public for a minimal charge ($5 for Theatre BC Members/Students and
$10 for General Public). Finalists will be given
approximately 30 minutes each, while the Category Winners will be given approximately 45
minutes each to perform.
Free
Workshop:
Friday, April 18th from 2:00- 4:00 will
be a free workshop for festival registrants at the Pavilion Theatre. TBA
Lunches:
Lunch can be provided for registrants for $10.00 (including GST) per day on Saturday,
April 19th and Sunday, April 20th. Lunch will consist of Soup & Sandwich, Dessert and
Fruit Juice. Lunches will be delivered to the Festival venue. If you would like to include
lunch(es) with your Festival Package, be sure to mark which days and include $ total with
your registration submission. There is a field for supplying any special dietary
