Welcome to the Okanagan
Zone Theatre Festival
If you're looking for Okanagan theatre events, this
is the big one. Once a year, theatre groups from the area present
their best work to be judged. The best will go on to Theatre BC's
Mainstage
festival to compete for the coveted Thespian
awards.
PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SPOON RIVER
ANTHOLOGY WINS BEST PLAY AT THE OZONE 2009 THEATRE FESTIVAL
Spoon River
Anthology, an actor's delight, won Best Production
at the OZone 2009 Community Theatre Festival in Summerland May 23,
2009.
Adjudicator
Garry Davey chose the Asparagus Community Theatre (Armstrong) show
to go on to Theatre BCs Mainstage Festival in Maple Ridge
in July. Spoon River Anthology, based on Edgar Lee Masters'
cycle of poems about Spoon River, Illinois, takes place in a graveyard.
The four actors each play many roles as they weave together their
stories of life in the small town. Two musicians on stage provided
the musical subtext to enrich the stories.
