A Message from the Billy Bishop Legion:

Rehearsal/performance space available to rent in Kitsilano: upstairs in the Billy Bishop Legion, on Laburnum Street, just half a block north of Cornwall. It holds about 120 people and has a small stage and other amenities. The downstairs, by the way, is like an old English pub with an air force flavour.

1/ The hall is available weekdays from 8:30 am until 6:00 pm Mon-Friday. It is rented for yoga Saturday and Sunday mornings from 9am-11am. The hall is not available to rent Monday-Friday evenings although Wednesday nights might be available in the near future.
i) Evening rates are $30.00 per hour for members of the BB Legion and $37.50 for non members.
ii) Daytime rate: $20.00 per hr as a daily rate for arts groups who would be willing rent the hall for the entire day only. For instance from 8:30-4:30 the charge would be $160.00 per day.
iii) The hall is available on most Saturday and Sunday evenings as well. The flat rate after 6pm, is $300.00 for members of the BB Legion and $375.00 for non-members. However if a band was willing to do their own promotion for an event, you can negotiate a contract that would be suitable for both parties in this regard.

2/ The hall has an old growth wooden floor, with a red tile covering that is washed on a daily basis.

3/ Natural light comes from both the north and east windows. The exit doors can be opened on both the west and south sides provided that there is little noise emanating from the upstairs hall and there is no drinking on any of the emergency exits. The aforementioned shouldn't be an issue for arts groups who rent it as a performance space in the afternoon. Note: the upstairs hall will soon be getting a new coat of paint. Making it more attractive to rent. Also note that the hall is air conditioned allowing us to hold concerts in the venue year round.
