Dear
Members:
The
GVPTA will again provide joint marketing free of charge for
World
Theatre Day events produced by current member
companies that occur in the month of March,
2010. This marketing effort will include a special
World Theatre Day brochure, a poster, a page on on the GVPTA
website, via e-mail, a bridge banner on Granville Island, via
our blog, media releases and other publicity.
We are open to
all kinds of submissions - the more creative the
better! Events can take place any time in March, not
just on the actual World Theatre Day, which falls on Saturday, March
27, 2010.
How can you
and/or your company get involved? Here are just a few
ideas...
-
In
rehearsal in March? How about inviting the public to attend
an open rehearsal? It's an exciting opportunity for theatre
lovers and we'll publicize it for you.
-
Consider
a backstage tour, reading, panel or a discussion group
related to a production you will be working on in the
spring.
-
Producing/presenting
a show at that time? Offer a special ticket discount for
World Theatre Day and we'll promote it for you. And don't
forget to read the official "2010 World Theatre Day Message"
before the show!
-
Team
up with a group to present a series of shorter World Theatre
Day presentations.
-
Do
you have space to offer other groups for special world
theatre day performances? Let us know that too.
Please
note that the emphasis is on
free or pay-what-you-can events, or else special
discounts for mainstage performances.
World Theatre
Day Programs currently in development:
-
NEW: "Flash
Drive!" We will shortly be calling for proposals
for a series of 3-5 minute theatrical "flash" events or
performances that can take place in public locations
throughout the city during the week of March 20-27. All
GVPTA members will be invited to submit proposals. These
events/performances will then be performed together at the
GVPTA-hosted World Theatre
Day Event on March 27. (Note - this event will
replace the " My First Time" event, but will have many of
the same features, i.e. pay-what-you-can admission, reading
of the International Theatre Day message, and a
party/reception after the performance). Stay tuned for more
details!
-
Theatre Biz
Chats at the VPL - What is the theatre business
really like? Our fifth year of panel discussions with local
artists will be held Sunday, March 21, 1:00 - 5:00 at the
Vancouver Public Library, Main Branch.
-
Art By
Actors - once again our local actors will be busy
producing art on canvas that will be made available for
auction, the proceeds of which will go towards the GVPTA.
Display locations for the art TBC.
For
more ideas and inspiration, please check out last year’s WTD listings here.
Please send your
submissions in via e-mail to info@gvpta.ca by
Friday, January 22. Even if you do not have complete
information by this date, you are encouraged to make contact
with tentative
proposals.
The
Submission
Form is below, and can also be downloaded in word doc
format from the World Theatre Day page of our NEW (!)
website.
Please
contact me if you have any questions or need more information.
See
you at World Theatre Day 2010!
